  I hacked mine and then the first software update came out and I had a hell of a time having to restore the whole damn thing...I'd wait since apple is due to release an update soon that will probably add more than just the wifi music store...I'm still holding out for I'm :(

  Ok, I'm deciding to wait. You sold me. Thats a good point with the update coming later this month for the wifi store, and like you said, hopefully more. Not only that, but this update will be telling on how it impacts the current hacked phone telling the world how Apple feels about the iPhone hackers.
  
  I'm with you on the IM functionality. That was probably my top motivation for the hacking thoughts. The web ones are fine, but they don't have the polish or speed of a native app. Here's hoping for Mobile iChat!

  i hacked.
  i was crazy nervous about it, but it's been completely smooth so far.
  good points about the updates and waiting, but realistically, if you hacked before then, you can just wait a day or two after the firmware updates until new 3rd party upgrades are released that address any issues that might arise with 3rd party stuff. if they arise at all.
  
  but the most important thing is, no, my boner hasn't gone down yet.
